August 26th, 2011 by Alida Woodland | Click to leave a comment »Join us for two days of riding through the spectacular East Kimberley landscape. We’ll head out from the station first thing, check out some waterholes along the way, have lunch at a beautiful big waterhole (saltie included!) and on to night camp. We’re up again early the next morning and off to Cockburn Creek for a shady lunch break, then return to the station that afternoon. We’ll have views of the Cockburn Ranges the entire ride. Three saddles open.
Two Week Trek heading out on July 14, three open saddles
May 21st, 2011 by Alida Woodland | Click to leave a comment »Due to this big Wet Season, we have had to alter our routes for our two week trek. We won’t be heading north this season, but will be taking a very scenic route around the Karunji Track, along the Pentecost River, down through El Questro, and into Speewah Valley, then on towards the Bedford Stock Route, around the Saw Ranges to Wuggubun community, and back up the King River Valley to Diggers again. We have three saddles available if anyone is interested in riding through remote, spectacular landscape in the East Kimberley!
Biggest Wet Season on record
May 21st, 2011 by Alida Woodland | Click to leave a comment »Here it is end of May and we are still waiting for tracks to dry out enough to get through! We had 62 inches of rain here at Digger’s, the most on record (though our rain gauge was under water in 2005 and 2006). There were record rainfalls across the East and North Kimberley. The country is at its best now, still green and plenty of water around.
Visiting Digger’s Rest in the Wet Season
March 25th, 2011 by Alida Woodland | Click to leave a comment »We are having a big Wet Season this year, and the experts reckon it may continue through April. However, the dragonflies are in abundance today and that’s supposed to be a sign of dry weather on the way. I’m backing the dragonflies!
Here are some photos taken by a friend who came to visit recently, arriving and departing by boat on the King River.
February at Digger’s Rest Station
February 20th, 2011 by Alida Woodland | Click to leave a comment »Ex-tropical Cyclone Carlos has left us with the river running high and waterfalls on the Erskine Ranges and Cockburn Ranges. It’s a beautiful time of year if you don’t mind wet feet!

January 13th, 2011 by Alida Woodland | Click to leave a comment »We have an additional trek on our schedule for 2011. The 14 day Carson Trek has been filled, so we are offering a return trek of 10 days. On the return we will be covering a bit more ground most days, as the horses will be walking out, thinking of home. We will take up to six keen riders, swapping horses at intervals as necessary to rest them.
Join us on a unique adventure in the remote, spectacular Kimberley of Western Australia.
