We have recently had an opening on our packhorse trek on July 14-26, so if anyone was wishing they could join us, here’s your chance! We will be riding through remote coastal country in the northeast Kimberley.

May is a fantastic month in the East Kimberley. The waterholes are still full, and the country still has a freshness about it from the wet season rains. We will be heading up to camp on Cockburn Creek for the night, riding across high ground with maginifent views, as well as meandering along the banks of the King River.

Our goats have had enough of the ridge feeding, so they’ve decided to get their feet wet…and make a break for the other side….a major move for an animal that despises even a few drops of rain.

All I can think about is the toilet paper joke!! NO NO NOT REALLY – It is the laughs, the friendship, the horses, the heat, the yummy food, the amazing scones!, the stars, the birds, the ancient river beds we walked across, the blue blue sky, the chairs, the pannikins, the MUSTER, that wild cow that tried to have my head only to lose her horn. That crazy emu that swallowed my rubber (eraser) and all the morning calls………… I know there is much more and I am remembering bits every day and writing them down adding to my diary.

Updates on the 2012 Horse Trekking Schedule

We have made a few updates to our schedule for this coming season.

There is a new Four Day Trek on the schedule, June 11-14, which has five saddles open.
We removed the June 17-23 Seven Day Trek from the schedule (no bookings).
The July 21-27 Seven Day Trek has morphed into a Twelve Day Packhorse Trip, July 14-26, but it is already fully booked.

There are still plenty of spaces available on several of our rides, so have a look, and join us for a horse trek in the Kimberley!

We have some of our best memories with these three horses. They looked after all sorts of riders for many years and always did the right thing by us. Here’s to Buster, Gundy and Moses, all resting under the trees now.
