Join us for the ultimate 9 day Australian horse holiday adventure in the magnificent East Kimberley region.

Not for the faint-hearted, this trek will head into some of Australia’s most spectacular, rugged and remote landscapes, as made famous by Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman in the epic movie Australia.

Averaging about 25 to 30 kms per day, riders need to be fit and comfortable riding in the bush at a walk, trot and canter, when terrain and temperatures allow.

Stge One

After a warm welcome and a relaxing evening around our camp fire, you will enjoy a peaceful night in one of our comfortable bush huts or bunkhouse rooms. Rising early with the sun on the Cockburn Ranges, we introduce you to our willing and sure-footed horses, saddle up and begin our adventure by horseback. Heading south from Digger’s Rest, we follow the King River Valley, picking up brumby and cattle pads over spinifex ridges, cantering along ti tree flats and making our way along the creek systems of the King.  The first few days we take in the rolling Erskine Ranges to the East and the sandstone escarpments of the Cockburn Ranges to West.

Stage Two

With the magnificent Cockburn Ranges still in view, we make our way westward, weaving amongst massive boab trees,  and taking respite by magical little waterholes.  Following First Creek up and riding over a saddle brings us to the extraordinary El Questro Station township, where the horses will enjoy a well-earned rest day and guests have the opportunity to kick back on the banks of the spring fed Pentecost or do a bit of exploring on two feet.

Stage Three

Our rejuvinated mounts will take us up Saddleback ridge for some spectacular views, over a saddle and back down to a creek system that leads us toward the mighty Pentecost River. We spend the next two days riding along the mighty Pentecost River and the historic Karunji stock route. The last day finds us moving along on wide open salt flats that lead us back to Digger’s Rest Station.  A comfortable bed in one of our bush huts or bunkhouse will be waiting for you on your last night of the trek.  The morning after the trek finishes riders say their farewells to their horses and we return guests to Kununurra.
