Australia, The Movie

Digger’s Rest Station was one of the spectacular Kimberley locations used to shoot Baz Luhrmann’s Australia.

The flat top mountains you see in Australia dominate the landscape around Wyndham and Kununurra, and the famous Cockburn Ranges are visible right from our doorstep.

Digger’s Rest Station was home to over 90 of the film’s crew and cast for several weeks in 2007.  The property was transformed into a whirlwind of cinematic activity.  It was truly an exciting time, with actors and crew coming and going by vehicle and helicopter. Names such as Baz Luhrmann, Hugh Jackman, David Wenham, David Gulpilil, and others have been left in signature on the walls of our homestead.
