Diggers Rest Horses| Con

We are gradually introducing the standardbreds into our trail riding mob. Con has officially become a guest horse and is already proving to be a reliable member of the herd. His easy nature and nonplussed attitude are perfect for beginner riders, yet he is responsive to leg, seat and voice if the rider is confident and wants to go for a trot or canter…and yes, even though Con is a standardbred, he has a nice canter:)

We would encourage any trail riding and horse trekking business to consider this breed for their herd, as they really do have lovely natures, and ours are doing quite well even in the extreme environs of the Kimberley! Our standardbreds have been through a full year here now, and they have handled the dry season when feed gets low in September, the build up when it is incredibly hot and still not a great selection of feed around, the wet season when it is humid, very muddy in areas, and still hot:) And they are coping with the rocky terrain, just give them their head and they pick their way along the ridges.
