Join us on this extraordinary horse riding holiday in the East Kimberley. After a warm welcome at Digger’s, and a relaxing evening around our camp fire, you will enjoy a peaceful night in one of our comfortable bush huts or bunkhouse rooms. Rising early with the sun on the Cockburn Ranges, we saddle up and begin our adventure by horseback. Over the next seven days, you will have the memorable experience of riding willing and sure-footed horses through breathtaking landscapes.

Day One

We pick up guests from Kununurra (either at accommodations or airport) around noon. After meeting and visiting over lunch at one of Kununurra's cafes, we head out to Diggers, in time to watch the sun set over the Cockburn Ranges.

Day Two

We ride amongst the numerous boab trees on Diggers, take in the famous boab Prison Tree on the bank of the King River, and pull up for lunch at Duck Hole on Cockburn Creek. The afternoon ride follows a brumby pad over a low rise, and finishes up at a beautiful waterhole off the King River.

Day Three

Our route heads down along a small creek system, then up over a gradual rise to spectacular views of the valley. We tuck back down on to waterholes of the King River and finish up at Cockatoo Camp, alongside a shallow billabong, perfect for a splash.

Day Four

Early to rise, we continue along the King River, riding by gum tree lined billabongs, skirting along the base of a ridge, and passing by intriguing rock formations. After lunch we pick up an old track heading south to Wild Dog Hill, and on to our night camp on the banks of a spring fed creek.

Day Five

A day of exploring this beautiful valley takes us along a spring fed creek system, and off to spend the hotter hours of the day swimming in a small but stunning gorge. The afternoon ride takes us back along a rise with magnificent views of the intriguing rock formations in this area.

Day Six

Based at the same camp, we head south through a truly magical landscape and make our away around the southern tip of Wild Dog Hill. After relaxing by a waterhole on the King River, the afternoon ride takes up over a saddle and back through the enchanting landscape surrounding our base camp.

Day Seven

Heading north again, the horses will be stepping out towards home. We follow the sandy King River flats along, riding through groves of salmon gum, quinine tree, and beefwood. Night camp is back at the New Yard, by a beautiful billabong with massive boab trees along its banks.

Day Eight

The last day of our ride takes us back along the well worn brumby pad to Cockburn Creek. We often see brumbies through this part of the valley! After a short climb up a hill with 360 degree views, we head home again to Diggers.

Day Nine

After a leisurely breakfast on the homestead verandah, riders say good bye to their equine mates, and we load up for the trip back to Kununurra, arriving by 10am.
