Remembering Rio
We lost an amazing horse this week. Rio was only about seven years old but had already looked after so many riders in his short life. He was the horse we saddled up for anyone anxious or unsure, but also for anyone needing a particularly smooth ride. We could take him on trail rides with beginners on board one day, and muster cattle with him the next. He was the type of horse that you wish you had a dozen of in the paddock. We will miss him for years to come.
“Somewhere…somewhere in time’s own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.”
