Diggers Rest Horses|True to their nature

The human is full of opinions, but the horse is the truth ~ Ray Hunt

Here at Digger’s Rest, we’ve had so many horses come in and go out of our lives over the years. Every horse we’ve had has brought us a little further along in understanding them, and it would serve us well to remember Ray Hunt’s words when things aren’t going the way we would like, and also when things are going really well!

Out of these four horses, three of them are gone, and one is well and truly retired. They’ve all helped me to be a bit smarter, and to remember there’s always going to be so much more to figure out. Buster, the chestnut on the left, taught me to be more sensitive and pay attention. Johnny Boy, the one in the centre, taught me just how smart horses really are, and how much they cater to their rider. Arthur, the chestnut with the wide blaze, has taught me so much I don’t know where to begin. Otto, the bay on the far right, taught me the importance of being consistent and firm.

Here’s to all those horses we’ve had in our lives, and to hoping we can do a bit better because of them.
