Kimberley Horse Trekking|Life is good on the back of a horse

For me, life becomes simpler when I am out on a horse. That’s one of the things I love about what we do. Granted, the scurrying around in preparation gets the stress levels up, but once we ride out the gate, it’s all about the horses and the people and the incredible Kimberley landscape. The days become focused around the horses: awakening to many pairs of eyes willing you to get up and get those nose bags on, saddling up and riding out, and later pulling up in the shade and seeking out a prime spot for your four legged friend to rest while the billy boils for morning tea. And that’s just the first part of the day.

At the end of the day, after the horses have been watered and fed (and sometimes hobbled), after swags have been rolled out, after dinner’s been enjoyed around the campfire, it’s time to lie down, look up at the stars, and drift off to the sounds of the horses feeding, arranging each other and eventually resting. Yes, life becomes simpler when out on a horse, and it’s all good.

“May your belly never grumble,

May your heart never ache.

May your horse never stumble,

May your cinch never break.”
